New In Beauty: Doucce Cosmetics

[prsample]

You guys know I’m always on the hunt for new things to try, so I get a little shiver of excitement whenever I discover a new brand. Latest in my makeup discovery adventure: Doucce. They’re a prestige professional brand with ideals that are right up my alley – great formulas and chic packaging. They were kind enough to send me their Holiday 2017 Set, and I’ve got to say, I’m suitably impressed. It has a little bit of everything in it, so I feel like it’s a great intro to the brand.

The formula of this mascara is pretty stellar. It’s a deep, matte charcoal black with about the consistency of cake frosting. The slightly thicker texture makes it great for building volume, and it sets pretty quickly so I don’t have to live in terror of sneezing right after I put it on (#makeupaddictproblems). The wand and packaging are both a little chunkier than I prefer, which can make it a bit tough to maneuver around my small eyelids, but overall I’m enjoying it.

Luscious Lip Stain / Gloss & Ultra Precision Eyeliner

With this set picking a favorite is a pretty tough competition, but I think the Luscious Lip Stain would be the winner. Unlike a lot of liquid lip colors, the texture is thin and really light weight, so it’s way more comfortable to wear. If you’ve used the Dior Lip Tattoos, it’s a bit like that, but with a semi-matte finish instead of gloss. It’s long-wearing (past lunch time as long as lunch isn’t burgers or tacos), and it fades evenly with a nice stain. I kind of want one in every color.

If matte isn’t your thing, the Luscious Lip Glass adds a vinyl shine to any of the stains. It’s moisturizing and not sticky, but I discovered my hair is long enough again to get stuck in my lip gloss on a windy day. I’m not really a lip gloss kind of person, but this one is fairly nice to wear.

Also swatched here is the Ultra Precision Eyeliner, which is a fairly standard pencil liner. It transfers onto the skin well, and the texture is soft so you have a few seconds to smudge it out before it sets, if that’s what you wanna do. I haven’t experienced any bleeding, flaking or fading.

Freematic System

Doucce’s pressed powder products come in what they call the Freematic system – each item in the set is in an individual pan that can be inserted into one of their magnetic palettes (or one that you already have). It’s a great way to build a capsule collection, though as you can see, the big highlight powder did crack during shipping. I’ll be making sure to put a tissue inside the compact during travel to avoid anything getting jarred around.

The holiday set comes with a highlighter, two blushes, and four eyeshadows. The texture on all of them is smooth, if a little on the dry side. Each one is packed with pigment and looks beautiful in swatches and on the face.

The cheek powders are all fantastic examples of what great powder formulas should be – dense, finely milled, and easy to blend. The finished look is very seamless and natural. When used sparingly the highlight (Flicker) creates a nice sheen or you can layer it for more intensity. The blushes, Daydream and Summer Sunset, have a matte finish that complements the rest of your makeup without overpowering it. Also, can we talk about the weave pattern pressed into the product? Since the packaging has such minimal lines otherwise, I think it’s a nice touch to add interest.

And holy cow, those eyeshadows! I’ll be honest and say these aren’t four colors I would have picked to put together in a palette since it’s hard to make a cohesive look from them. Individually though, they’re all excellent holiday shades – the green and gold are especially festive! The color payoff is amazing, and they apply and blend just as smoothly as the face products. They wear well, easily making through a whole work day with no creasing or fading.

Overall – if you can’t tell – I’m pretty excited about this set! Aside from the highlight seeming to be on the fragile side, I feel like they hit it out of the park with formulas. In fact, I might just have to pick up a few more colors of just about all of it.
