This past week was a little wild at work – two days’ worth of remote meetings, a move to a new office location, and all the general madness that comes along with getting caught up after that stuff. So what I’m saying is, I’m really glad this is a three-day weekend. I’ve spent most of it so far being incredibly (and intentionally) lazy, and that’s how today is shaping up too. If you want to be lazy with me, here’s a little bit of weekend reading for you.
I’m addicted to seeing other people’s makeup setups, so this customized Ikea Alex drawer set from Fleur De Force was pretty neat to see. I’m not sure I’d try it myself because I’m actually a big fan of the original minimalist look (my whole house would be black and white monochrome if I could talk my husband into it, and if I didn’t have a dog), but it’s a cool idea nonetheless.
I plan to spend a solid day shopping when I head to San Francisco for vacation in a couple months, and that definitely needs to involve another stop at the Surratt counter at Barneys. I didn’t pick up any of their eyeshadows on my last trip, but this review from she dreams in perfect french definitely has me wanting to take another look.
Another thing I’ve been wanting to check out for a while are the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks. They look incredible on Tiffany from Will Work for Makeup, but it sounds like I may prefer the Bite Lip Creams after all. Asos doesn’t have the color I want yet anyway (Frambourjoise), so I guess I’ll wait around a while to see if they get it.
Silverkis’ World has another new thing I’ve been eyeing – the Armani Eyes to Kill Solo eyeshadow singles. Brights aren’t what I usually go for in eyeshadow, but these look amazing. Unfortunately a few of the shades aren’t available in the US – I’m guessing some of the pigments aren’t FDA-approved for eye safety (bummer).
So it looks like gel eyeliner pens are going to be a thing here pretty soon. I haven’t had a chance to try any – and to be honest I probably won’t for a while, I already have way more eyeliner than I’ll ever wear. So even though it may be a while before I get around to it, the British Beauty Blogger has a comparison of the upcoming Benefit Push Up Liner and Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock liner for you.
Another trip that I’m hoping to make this year is to Las Vegas, so Allison Anderson‘s post of her Vegas makeup essentials grabbed my attention. I’m sure I’ll pack and re-pack my makeup bag at least three times before I got, but some of her picks like the Hourglass palette and Chanel lash curler will almost definitely end up in my bag too.
Lately I’ve been considering changing up my hair color. Verdict: nope, it’s already too thin and easily damaged. Even though I ultimately decided against any more major changes for now, these pre-hair-change must-ask questions from the small things blog are definitely handy.
This isn’t so much ‘reading’ as ‘looking’ but I really loved seeing Amelia Liana‘s photos of her Givenchy Nightingale bag. This is a perfect example of why I love blogs, right here. I’ve seen this bag online a gazillion times, and even took a quick peek at it when I was in Chicago, and not once did it really interest me. But – I was seeing it in its brand-new, stuffed-to-keep-its-shape, most ‘perfect’ form. And I’m not really interested in it. But seeing it worn-in, full of real-person everyday stuff – now that version of it I can really see myself falling in love with.
If you have any great reads for the long weekend, leave them below for us to check out!
